well i am in skl council and we organixe all the dances
ive always been inspired by the yule ball in hp4 (link for pic)
so we thought we should do like a winter solistice dance
instead of a christmas dance

so my questions is should i have smtg like the yule ball or will it be toooo much more 12 13 14 year olds

But I think I an picture what you’re talking about and I love the idea. I don’t think it is too much for them, I would have been fascinated by this when I was that age.
It’s your time and money so you are going to have to judge that one. Don’t pour money into it though because bottom line children are destructive and will most likely destroy your property.

I love the idea of the Yule Ball from HP Goblet of Fire.
Make it wintry themed rather than holiday based.
Include candles rather than normal lights (if it isn’t a safety hazard) and put fake frost on the windows.
Include some type of fake furs for a more cozy atmosphere.
(you got me all excited after you mentioned Harry Potter)
