I have a large garden and grow a lot more vegetables than I can eat. I have been giving them to my neighbors, especially the family of 7 living next door. They are about to lose their home to forclosure. Every few days I put a box of veggies on their door step. Yesterday, I was working in my garage on a sign that I will place in my yard for the holidays. The sign says ‘Happy Solstice.’ One of the little boys from next door asked me what it was, so I told him that I celebrate the Pantheist Holiday of Solistice. I simply told him I didn’t celebrate Christmas. Well this morning, I took my wagon of vegatables to several houses on the block as usual, and again stopped at my next door neighbors leaving a box. I was only home maybe ten minutes when I saw the little boy carrying my box in his arms, up my drive way, and he put it backon my porch, then ran away. His parents were waiting for him, and quickly snatched the boy and his sisters and ran in their house and slammed their door.
If they’re choosing to reject your generosity because they’re so foolish as to think you’re dangerous because you’re not a Christian then let them do so. You can’t cure elective ignorance.
Ignore them. They’re fools.

Ask them if there was something wrong with your vegetables, or if there was something you did to offend them.
That will leave no doubts as to what you should do. It will probably also make them squirm a little to find a good "Christian" answer to why they would do such a thing.

I’d say it’s a clear indication they don’t share your beliefs and are even frightened of them. Leave em be. Live and let live.

There’s not much that you can do. If they don’t want your help, they are entitled not to have it. I suggest you just ignore them now.

That is a very sad story, but I say keep trying.

ummm… well i guess they didn’t want their children exposed to your ideals. being a christian, i can kind of understand but that’s no reason to be rude. you were just helping people out.

Leave them alone, if they’re afraid of you that’s their problem.

I am a born again Christian and I would have still accepted your generosity. However if they don’t then I hope it is not in your belief to take revenge.
Just let the incident go and give your veggies to someone else.

Don’t give them anymore vegetable duh.

Superstition is a hard thing to destroy without education. Sorry. They have officially thrown your gift back into your face and you are a danger to them in their minds. You said they’re close to foreclosure, right? Count your blessings.

Well…it doesn’t sound like you are going to have to deal with them very long anyhow.
They have made their position clear. I’d just ignore them in the future.

Sorry Billy…I read some of your other questions and I think you made this one up.
Not saying this couldn’t happen, mind you, but this is a bit irresponsible, don’t ya think?

As an aside, it blows me away how all of the "rational" antichristians fell for this tripe.

That is odd behavior, but I guess to each is own. It is sad though that would not accept your gift because of their beliefs.
I wish I was your neighbor. I love fresh veggies!

What’s your question?
You didn’t ask for anything when you gave them the veggies, not even their thanks. So when they refuse them, why does this affect you?
Do you think by giving them veggies you can change them somehow? Are they going to change your beliefs by refusing your veggies? If not, then why do you think you can change theirs?
By the way, while I celebrate Christmas and not the winter solstice, I fully recognize that Christmas is truly a pagan holiday.
What I don’t get is what you were doing working on a Christmas sign in July. Or were you just late for the summer solstice?

Weird… ignore them you were nice.

You don’t do anything. You have a strange religion and they cant stand you. I’m a little leery of you myself. Just stay away from them they may get desperate and defensive if you come near. All you religious freaks are dangerous. They are probably afraid you are trying to poison them.

Sorry, Billy – I’ve got to agree with ceiling cat on this one. You did nothing wrong, they’re just freaks.
Wish I lived in your neighborhood – I have no time for a garden and I’m craving fresh veggies – can’t even get to the farmer’s market!
I’d never turn your veggies away just cause you’re alternatively religioned.
They’re fools.
Craig R – I get why he’s working on that sign now – same reason I’m working on a plastic canvas santa right now – I’ll be too busy closer to christmas, and you have to work on stuff when you ahve the time. I start my christmas shopping this time of year too, so I can get cool stuff from the craft fairs and not break my budget trying to buy everything all at once.
