I wish a Blessed Yule to anyone who celebrates it and a merry xmas to those who celebrate that. Good will to all.
I hope you enjoy the pictures, the fab music is by a relatively unknown artist known as Patrice. If you enjoy this track (called What do you call it?…Sunshine) please show your support by buying his album, he really is great in my opinion, some of the best emerging talent out there. His album can be bought through Amazon and a link is provided below

Carrying an effigy of the sun on this the longest night of the year, the revelers bid goodbye to last year’s sun, honoring him by processing, singing to the neighbors, and dancing with the folk before laying the sun to rest by burning the effigy and singing of their hope for the new sun to be born in the morning that will mark the beginning of the lenthening of the days once more. Undaunted by the winter rain that fell gently, the good Pagans of the Grove brought smiles and fun to the neighborhood in honor of this most sacred night. They wish for each viewer the deep wisdom of the womb of the Goddess that these midwinter nights reflect. Blessed be.

Summer Soltice June 21st 2009 In Wrexham North Wales Video 1/5
Summer Soltice June 21st 2009 In Wrexham North Wales..ASATRU

Quite simply, this day marks the founding of the ASATRU Alliance. This date is significant to modern ASATRU as it is the time in which the what we call ASATRU today was brought together and in a manner designed to venerate and preserve the ways of the Old Gods and their people.

21st June, Litha – Summer Solstice:
CELTIC, DRUIDRY, WICCA

This time of year is less significant to both ancient Celts and modern Celts, and there are few pre-Christian sources that place that much relevance on it. By all accounts this time of year was overshadowed by the previous feast of Beltane in the Celtic world and most of the activities at this time were more like Beltane activities that were also done at this time.

But for Wiccans and Druids this time holds greater individual significance. This is Midsummer, the longest day of the year and although this may have been a significant time of harvest preparation for the ancient Celts, for modern day Wiccans it also symbolizes the exchange of power from the light half of the year to the dark half. Now the world begins its decline and it is the time that the shift in power moves in favor of the Dark God.

21st June, Midyear 21, Midsummer:
ASATRU

Midsummer is the longest day of the year and the shortest night. From here on out the nights will get longer and thusly the time begins to draw on where it would become gradually more difficult for Norsemen to make sea-voyages.

At this time it is appropriate to revere the Goddess Sanna, the Goddess of the Sun, for this is the time when she is at her most powerful, but will soon be going into decline. Feast to her and pay revelry to the season. SALUTE You Goddesses as you hand over the runnings to the darker nights…
When we get back to Spring.. It cycles again.. Dark /Light Each Must Exist within the other…. to perfect The Whole. Inner and Outer.

Happy Soltice People of The Planet.. This Sun has been looking after This Planet for a loooooong loooong time. DONT LET THE NEW WORD ORDER END OUR DAWNS..
Take your Divinity Back !! From them !!

Take a well earned rest in Winter

Please select the high quality option otherwise it may be a little difficult to read. My video’s are made for DVD so often they lose a little quality on here.

A small tribute to the Winter Solstice. For the record, I also celebrate Christmas This video is not intented to promote a single religion, but it IS intended to encourage religions to celebrate together We don’t all have to agree, but we do all have to share the earth, it would be so much better if we could do it peacefully…

I am also dedicating this video to all the religious fanatics who are using youtube to beat the heck out of one another, in particular, the Pagans… Sorry to single you (us) out, but it breaks my heart to see Pagans making spiteful video’s against other religions, that in itself goes totally against what we stand for…

I am not usually verbal about religion, but I am almost a full cycle of making these video’s, this is seven of eight, and I have not had one nasty comment on them, which proves that if you present things nicely, and don’t force it on people, then people are nice…it doesnt matter if people don’t agree, but its lovely to share a little knowledge on a very misunderstood religion. As a Pagan, I feel that part of my duty is to show people that I am a decent, harmless person, and that the stereotype that television and Hollywood portray is so far from the truth.

It is wrong of any Pagan to try and convert anyone to their way of thinking. Many video’s are made in hate and haste, and it should be remembered that people seeking info on Paganism are watching these video’s, and often judging ALL Pagans by them!

Those that were meant to follow or understand the path will find their own way to it…

So, thats the most verbal I have ever been about religion on here, and its aimed at my own religion. Don’t get me wrong there are some beautiful Pagan video’s on youtube, thank you for those…

I wish I was better with words to put this message out, I hope it is received with the intent that it was written. Opinions are not usually my thing when it comes to religion.

Blessed Winter Solstice
Happy Christmas
and any other Winter holiday that is being celebrated….

    Lisa

—————————————-

Druid ar Môn
22nd DEC 2007

Holly King / Santa Claus: There are as many theories of a “historical” Santa Clause (or “Saint Nicholas”) as there are ethnic cultures. As an Keltic folk archetype however, the old man wreathed in holly is the Holly King. He represents the “waning year”, the “old year”, or the “dark half” of the year. At winter solstice the Oak King (or the Sun, or the New Year) is born, and the Holly King’s reign is over.

Mistletoe: The mistletoe was sacred to the Druids. The custom of kissing under the mistletoe may derive from the custom of enemies refraining from killing each other if they should happen to meet under its sacred branches. Presumably the custom became friendlier and friendlier with time. Other scholars say that the lusty connotations of the plant derive from the belief that the clusters of white translucent berries were drops of the God’s (or the Oak King’s) semen. The Oak King takes the place of the Holly King, and rules the waxing year, or the “New Year

Candles: The extinguishing of candles at winter solstice rituals (including Amaltheia’s) represents the deep darkness of the longest night. Their relighting shows us that the light will return to us. In the moments of total darkness, we are “between the worlds”: between the old year’s death and the new year’s conception. Yule Log:
The word “yule” is from the Saxon word for “wheel”. The Yule Log,O.E. geol, geola “Christmas Day, Christmastide,” from O.N. jol (pl.), a heathen feast, later taken over by Christianity, of unknown origin. The O.E. (Anglian) cognate giuli was the Anglo-Saxons’ name for a two-month midwinter season corresponding to Roman December and January, a time of important feasts but not itself a festival.
Burned at Midwinter, is a magical bridge between one year and the next. The fire under the Yule log is lit with a piece of last year’s Yule Log, symbolizing the continuity of the cycles of life. The ashes of the Yule log were scattered on the fields to ensure fertility

The Pagan seasonal cycle is often called the Wheel of the Year. Almost all Pagans celebrate a cycle of eight festivals, which are spaced every six or seven weeks through the year and divide the wheel into eight segments.

I acknowledge the work and inspiration of Starhawk, Thomas Berry, Brian Swimme and Connie Barlow, in this composition. The name “Tiamat” (meaning “Goddess Mother”) used for the supernova that birthed our Solar system, was the name given to Her by Thomas Berry (see his book, co-authored with Brian Swimme, “The Universe Story”), though the celebration of Tiamat in Winter Solstice ritual was inspired by Connie Barlow – in her book “Green Space, Green Time”. Tiamat is originally the name of the ancient Babylonian Goddess – and I also tell something of her story in “PaGaian Cosmology” p.73-74.
